MANILA, Philippines — Smartphone giant OPPO announces partnership with telecom company Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) to test the LinkBoost 2.0 technology seen on the smartphone maker's Reno13 series, which was made available nationwide on February 14, in a press release sent to androidist on Monday, February 24, 2025.
The partnership between the two technology companies was made to check the strengths of the Reno13 series' AI LinkBoost 2.0, which went through 'a series of rigid tests' according to the smartphone brand. In the press statement, the Reno13 series from OPPO is said to have topped competing smartphones in maintaining and recovering connectivity and speed.
"[...], the OPPO Reno13 Series 5G showed superior performance in terms of connecting to the internet or making calls and smoothly switching between different network types," the press release read.
The AI LinkBoost feature has been around since the Reno12 series, which was released last year, and is now said to have 11 individual antennas on the Reno13 series. "This innovation seamlessly goes along with the 360º Surround Antenna solution that enhances signal strength, giving its users reliable connection all the time," OPPO added.
An overview of the OPPO Reno13 series' AI LinkBoost 2.0 is as follows, via OPPO:
Weak Signal Areas: The OPPO Reno13 5G delivered impressive performance in areas with weak signals, achieving download speeds of 82.6 MBPS and upload speeds of 7.2 MBPS—significantly outperforming competitor devices. In comparison, other competitors recorded average download speeds ranging from 32.9 to 36.3 MBPS and upload speeds between 4.8 and 6.7 MBPS.
Signal Recovery Speeds: Elevators often cause significant signal loss, but the OPPO Reno 13 5G excels in rapid reconnection. During 10 trials, it restored signal in just 9.6 seconds on average, while some competitors took up to 40 seconds—making the Reno 13 5G 76% faster in terms of network recovery.
WiFi Coverage: OPPO’s Reno 13 5G, powered by AI LinkBoost 2.0, extends Wi-Fi connectivity 37.95% farther than competitors in recent trials. This innovation ensures stronger, more stable connections for seamless browsing, gaming, and streaming.
Rapid Network Selection & Connection: The OPPO Reno 13 5G with LinkBoost 2.0 has outperformed competitors in Manila Metro mobility tests, delivering 35.5 seconds of lag when streaming YouTube and TikTok videos, even in subway tunnels. Competitors experienced up to 100 seconds of lag. With faster network selection and seamless connection, the Reno 13 5G sets a new standard for real-world connectivity.
File Transfer in Congested Network Areas: The OPPO Reno 13 5G outperforms competitors with an average media transfer time of just 1.8 seconds in heavily congested areas—up to 90% faster than other devices, which took up to 21 seconds.
