Adobe brings Photoshop to iPhones, Android version to follow

The mobile version of Adobe is now live for iPhone devices with the Android release 'coming later this year'.

MANILA, Philippines — American technology company Adobe has recently announced the mobile version of Photoshop in a press release sent to androidist on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. The new mobile port of the popular image editing tool is now live for iPhones with the Android release 'coming later this year'

The mobile version of Adobe Photoshop is said to deliver the advanced image editing tool's core imaging and design capabilities like layering and masking, 'tailored for mobile devices to empower limitless creativity.' 

"The new mobile app is designed from the ground up to welcome a new generation of image and design enthusiasts to the limitless potential of Photoshop in an easy-to-use mobile interface," the press release read.

The app, although free, comes with a premium plan — which Adobe calls the "Photoshop Mobile & Web Plan" — for full access. An overview of the plan is as follows, via Adobe:

Photoshop on the web:

  • Seamlessly pick up where you left off with files that automatically sync and save across iPhone and web.
  • Access even more powerful features like: Camera RAW filter, shapes, layer effects, Quick Actions, generative AI features like Generate Similar, Reference Image and more.

Premium mobile capabilities:

  • Easily remove objects by brushing over them with Remove Tool, use Clone Stamp to hide unwanted objects by cloning areas of an image, and seamlessly fill portions of an image with content sampled from other parts of the image with Content-Aware Fill.
  • Quickly and precisely select people, plants, cars and more with enhanced precision using Object Select or isolate an object or area of an image and adjust it with targeted editing tools with Magic Wand.
  • Control transparency, color effects and add unique styles to images with Advanced Blend Modes.
  • Explore different typefaces and styles by accessing more than 30,000 fonts or importing your own.
  • Export assets for a broad range of print quality and compression possibilities and use additional file formats (PSD, TIF, JPG, PNG).

Generative AI with Firefly

  • Seamlessly add or remove content from images using Generative Fill or extend an image with Generative Expand, non-destructively. Also, ideate, create new assets and jumpstart creativity using Text to Image, all powered by Adobe Firefly which is safe for commercial use.

The 'Photoshop Mobile & Web Plan' can be purchased through the Apple App Store.  

Adobe Photoshop is now available for download on iOS via the Apple App Store, with an Android version coming soon. Interested Android users can opt for the Android Beta form to be notified of the release.
