MANILA, Philippines — Made by Google (@madebygoogle), the social media handle of Google for the Pixel department, officially confirms on X (formerly Twitter) that the Pixel 6 series, Pixel 7 series, and Pixel Fold will get an additional two (2) years of OS updates on Friday, December 6, 2024.

The extended support adds up to a total of five (5) years of OS updates for the following devices: Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, and Pixel Fold, which means Pixel 6 phones will get updates up to Android 17 while Pixel 7 and Pixel Fold phones get updates up to Android 18.

For the unaware, these devices are previously known to only have three (3) years of updates — with Android 15 supposed to be the end-of-line for Pixel 6 phones.

The announcement was spotted by two renowned technology editors reporting on the Pixel scene: Наиль Садыков (@Nail_Sadykov) and Mishaal Rahman (@MishaalRahman), who saw the change on the support page for these devices. In addition, Made by Google also confirmed the change on their X account.
