While the Unpacked 2022 event is just right around the corner, a recent report from SamMobile suggested that Samsung could be expanding the Android OS update policy from three to four major OS upgrades.
According to a report from SamMobile, Samsung is aiming to expand the Android update policy to a sufficient amount of new devices, from three to four major OS upgrades. The South Korean tech giant is also committed to providing security patches from four to five, increasing the lifespan of the mentioned set of devices, including the predecessors. (From a year-old S21 lineup to the S22, Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3, and Tab S8 series.)
Meanwhile, the latest Google Pixel 6 series only opts in for three major OS upgrades, although they are still guaranteed to receive five years of security patches. With that being said, Samsung will take the spotlight when it comes to longevity.
All of a sudden, looks like owning a Pixel phone isn’t as cool as it used to be. 👀 What are your thoughts on this? Share your ideas in the comment section below!
UPDATE: Now confirmed. A report from GIZGUIDEPH finally confirmed the alleged rumour, it turns out to be true.
